Since Webjet set out to disrupt the travel industry in 1998 they have grown to become the leading online travel agency in Australia and New Zealand. Webjet leads the way in online travel tools and technology – enabling customers to compare, combine and book the best domestic and international travel flight deals, hotel accommodation, holiday package deals, travel insurance and car hire worldwide.

Why Webjet Partnered With Us

When Webjet began its maiden voyage 25 years ago, they were just a small smart start-up in Melbourne trying to make travel more accessible for Australians. Decades later, they have grown into a multi-national entity, with an ever-diverse set of service offerings in the industry.

Australia’s #1 travel agency is now a group of travel businesses serving wholesale and retail customers worldwide. Webjet knew it was time for a brand shift; one that would accurately reflect their evolution to current and potential investors. However, their corporate-facing website didn’t reflect this upward journey. It also lacked the professionalism one might expect from a corporation of this size.

  • The WordPress-built site was outdated and did not align with the evolving Webjet brand.
  • The site did not accurately communicate the history and financial performance of Webjet Group to potential investors.
  • The current platform lacked essential security and scalability measures needed for the ever-growing business.

With previous experience in complex builds for national brands such as the RSPCA and Woodards, we were the ideal agency to carry out the project in a way that was sensitive to the needs and goals of Webjet.

The Solution

Webjet was a Melbourne start-up just like us. Seeing their growth over the years was absolutely inspiring. Going into this project we felt immense pride in shaping their story at this significant juncture in their journey. It all started with a complete overhaul of their corporate-facing website.

Whilst the site certainly lived to inform, the solution needed to instil trust and confidence in current and potential investors. Specific attention was given to;

  • Creating a professional corporate site that matched the branding and ethos of Webjet Group’s B2C and B2B sites.
  • Using effective web design to clearly showcase Webjet’s history of innovation  - dating back to 1998.
  • Highlighting special moments in the business’ history to help potential investors better understand the transition from Webjet Limited to Webjet Group.
  • Providing a Live ASX share price and easy, secure access to financial resources for stakeholders. 
  • Component-driven, zero-dependency design, empowering Webjet to create fresh and complex pages without developer intervention.

The website was built using the Silverstripe framework, selected for its impeccable security, scalability and user-friendliness. Championed across official Australian and New Zealand government agency websites, Silverstripe provided the perfect scaffolding for a project designed to share significant, confidential financial, operating and corporate updates about Webjet Group.
