We Debuted Overdrive at Australia's Biggest Aftermarket Expo

Launching a product is one thing. Launching it in front of thousands of the most switched-on people in your industry is another thing entirely.

The 2026 Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo (held across three days at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre) is the southern hemisphere's largest automotive aftermarket trade event, bringing together over 400 exhibitors and thousands of trade visitors under one roof.

For Soul+Wolf, it was the moment we'd been building towards.

Overdrive, our Shopify accelerator purpose-built for automotive brands and retailers, is the culmination of a year of genuine hard work and over a decade of experience working inside this industry. The Expo wasn't just a product launch. It was a chance to meet our people. Clients, fellow AAAA members, and the brands we've been quietly watching and learning from for years.

What We Showed

The centrepiece of the stand was a live demonstration of Overdrive. Showing exactly how the platform works for a brand selling automotive parts and accessories online.

Fitment search, catalogue complexity, B2B and DTC in one place, built on the speed and reliability of Shopify.

No six-figure custom build. No eighteen-month timeline. Just a clean, modern, conversion-focused store that actually understands how parts buyers shop.

We also leaned into the Shopify spirit with their Horizon driving game running on the stand. Times were clocked, trash was talked, and more than a few visitors came back for a second run.

We think the stand looked pretty sharp too, but we'll let the photos do the talking on that one.

What the Floor Told Us

Three days of conversations with brands, distributors and retailers confirmed what we'd suspected.

The recurring theme wasn't awareness of ecommerce.

Everyone knows they need a better online presence. The real challenge is moving quickly without hitting a technology bottleneck at every turn. Brands know what they want. They just keep being told it's complicated, expensive, or not possible on the platforms they're already using.

Returns and operational inefficiency from incorrect part fitment came up repeatedly. When a customer orders the wrong part because the website couldn't properly match their vehicle, everyone loses. The customer, the brand, and the team processing the return. It's a problem that sits right at the heart of what Overdrive was built to solve.

And AI was on everyone's lips. Brands are looking for guidance on where automation can reduce friction, and they're looking for partners who can help them implement it without the chaos. That's a conversation we're very much ready to have.

The Brands That Raised the Bar

If there's one thing the Expo does well, it's set a benchmark. And this year, several stands set it very high.

Brembo landed somewhere between trade display and art installation. Holographic displays, immaculate presentation, and a team that matched the quality of the product at every touchpoint. It was a masterclass in brand consistency.

NTK brought the Collingwood energy.  And daily Messina gelato. You don't need us to tell you that went down well.

Burson brought the competition with a basketball arcade setup and prizes that had people lining up and coming back. Smart, fun, and completely on brand.

Castrol understood the assignment in a different way, keeping the floor caffeinated with incredible lattes and magics. Simple, generous, memorable. Sometimes hospitality is the strategy.

And then there was Bendix's Max. An AI robot that roamed the floor and stopped the show repeatedly. Forget the stand, Max was the stand!

For a debut appearance, it was both inspiring and instructive. We came away with a very clear picture of where we want to take our Expo presence in 2028.

What's Next for Overdrive

The platform is live, the team is ready, and we're inviting brands to take it for a spin.

Whether you're deep in a rebuild you're not sure about, stuck on a platform that wasn't built for automotive, or simply curious about what modern ecommerce looks like for this industry, a demo is the best place to start.

Book your demo at getoverdrive.store and let's build something worth showing at the next Expo.
