Schots Home Emporium

Schots Home Emporium — An iconic Melbourne homewares & furniture destination

Background

Schots Home Emporium is one of Melbourne's most beloved homewares and furniture destinations. With a reputation built over decades on eclectic curation, quality craftsmanship, and a shopping experience unlike any other, Schots has earned its place as an icon of Melbourne retail.

The brand serves both everyday consumers through its retail stores and eCommerce channel, and a loyal trade clientele — interior designers, architects, and property developers — who rely on Schots for sourcing distinctive, premium pieces.

As the business grew and customer expectations evolved, it became clear that their digital presence was failing to reflect the richness and character of the in-store experience. Soul+Wolf was engaged to change that.

The Requirements

For a brand of Schots' standing, their digital platform was not keeping pace. Their existing eCommerce site was slow and cumbersome — a poor reflection of the warmth and character customers experience in their physical stores. Performance issues impacted search visibility and frustrated customers before they'd even had the chance to browse the full range.

The trade and B2B experience was equally problematic. Interior designers and trade clients — some of Schots' most valuable customers — lacked a dedicated, efficient way to browse, quote, and order. This created unnecessary friction and placed added load on the sales team to handle requests manually.

Behind the scenes, the absence of a reliable integration between their eCommerce platform and their NetSuite ERP meant inventory, pricing, and order data were managed across disconnected systems — a time-consuming and error-prone process that couldn't scale.

Schots needed a new digital foundation: one that honoured the brand's heritage and character, served both retail and trade customers seamlessly, and connected their business systems in one unified platform.

Shopify Plus & NetSuite — One Platform for Retail, Trade & Operations

The Solution

The primary goals of the digital transformation included:

A complete migration to Shopify Plus, delivering a fast, premium storefront that reflects the quality and character Schots is known for in-store.

Integrating Shopify Plus with NetSuite ERP to synchronise product data, inventory, pricing, and orders across the business — replacing fragmented, manual processes with a single source of truth.

Building a dedicated B2B trade portal for interior designers, architects, and trade clients — enabling self-service ordering, quote management, and account visibility without manual intervention.

Empowering the Schots team to manage their catalogue, launch new collections, and update content at pace — without relying on costly or time-consuming development work.

Creating a scalable digital infrastructure capable of supporting Schots' continued growth across both retail and trade channels.

NetSuite Integration

At the heart of the project was a deeply customised integration between Shopify Plus and Schots' NetSuite ERP system. Product catalogues, inventory levels, pricing, and order data now flow seamlessly and automatically between platforms — eliminating the manual reconciliation that had previously burdened the operations team.

The result is a single, accurate view of the business. Teams across inventory, finance, and fulfilment work from the same real-time data, reducing errors and freeing up time to focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences rather than chasing spreadsheets.
