Goodbye 2020

by Jason Soultan , Marco Rosano and Stefano Senese

What just happened...?

It goes without saying that 2020 has probably been the most challenging year for all businesses in recent history. Regardless of industry, we have all felt the brunt of COVID-19, occupationally and personally. While no one was exempt from the pandemic’s wrath, the digital industry saw some fascinating trends.

With everyone stuck at home, ecommerce soared to all-time highs. Face-to-face communication was replaced by Zoom, Hangouts, Teams and Skype. Marketing budgets across the country were both scrapped by some and doubled by others. We’ve witnessed a massive (and maybe permanent) shift in the business landscape and naturally, it’s presented both challenges and opportunities along the way.

It’s been... difficult.

We won't lie. March and April were some of the hardest months we have ever faced. Difficult decisions needed to be made. Action needed to be taken. Fortunately, we stuck to our guns, kept our lines of communication open, and most importantly, supported each other throughout the period. And now, here we are. Stronger and more united than ever on the cusp of a New Year.

However, just before we plunge head first into 2021, like we do every year, it’s time for us to reflect and look back at the year that was.

NO/BS Conference

To think that our NO/BS Conference happened 10 months ago is just absurd. After being frustrated by the same old fluffy content being presented at digital conferences, Jason and Marco decided to run their own. After two years of planning, stressful mornings and long nights, 300 guests joined us at the Melbourne Forum to hear some of the industries best and brightest give a ‘no BS’ account of their experience in the digital world.

In case you missed it, the turn out, the content, and the reception was absolutely amazing. In the months that followed, the brand and event was awarded:

We cannot wait to show you what we have in store for NO/BS in the years to come.

Great Work, for Great People

We’re extremely proud to announce the following group of new clients who trusted us for the journey that was 2020: Arnold Bloch Leibler, Canopy Fitouts, Runway Room, Formal Red, Henselite, Fletchers Supplies, National Tiles, Soar Society, SXiQ and Vehicle Safety Group.

And of course, a huge shout out to all of our existing clients. You’re the reason we’re here.

We grew client revenue by 465%

As mentioned above, the COVID-19 pandemic not only reshaped our world, but accelerated the shift away from physical to online shopping.

And whilst Black Friday may not trigger store stampedes like in the US (just yet), it's certainly heading that way.

This year, without a doubt, Black Friday sales were the largest we've ever seen.

80% of our clients saw their biggest day, week and month around the event which is becoming a must for Australian brands heading into 2021.

Google Premier Partner

Earlier this year, we achieved Premier Partner status with Google which sits us amongst the very best agencies (~5-8%) in AuNZ.

We’re extremely proud of this achievement and what it means to carry this badge.

Our New Office

It’s true what they say, when one door closes another one opens. And after 6.5 years on Buckhurst St, it was with great sorrow and excitement to pack up our things and move to Park St. The timing was perfect, and the space is stunning. We can’t wait to have you over.

Our new address: 278 Park St South Melbourne VIC 3205

SEMRUSH
Australian Search Awards

In addition to the awards won for our NO/BS Conference (above), our very own John Rosato was a shortlisted finalist for the highly coveted ‘Young Search Professional of the Year’ award at this year's SEMRUSH Australian Search Awards.

Unfortunately on this occasion, John didn’t take home the trophy. But the very nomination, and then to be shortlisted amongst the industry’s very best talent, is simply an outstanding achievement of its own.

Congratulations John!

That same event, we came agonisingly close with a few other awards, including nominations and shortlists for ‘Online Presence Breakthrough’, ‘Best Content Marketing Campaign’ and ‘Best SEO Campaign’.

Needless to say, we’re already planning our 2021 entries!

The Holiday Period

It’s now time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the festive season.

From midday this Friday (the 18th of December), we will be closing up shop to enjoy a sunny break and welcome the New Year with our friends and family.

Things will be business as usual from the 4th of January, but should anything urgent arise before then, please reach out via email at ‘[email protected]’ and we'll do our very best to come back to you as soon as possible regarding the issue at hand.

From all of us here at Soul+Wolf, thank you very much for your continued support throughout the difficult year it’s been.

We look forward to working with all again in 2021.

Happy Holidays
Marco & Jason
